Centenary of Machu Pichu

The celebration of the centenary of the first visit that made the explorer Hiram Bingham to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in Cusco, will be followed by some 500 million viewers worldwide, reported Carlos Canales, chief executive of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur).
He explained that the ceremony, which will take place on July 7, 2011 in the Inca sanctuary and whose duration shall not exceed one hours and a half, will be broadcast via satellite, so it is possible that it reaches many more people.
GREAT GUESTS
He stressed that the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa, Nobel Prize for Literature 2010, will be responsible for opening the show with a stake of about five minutes.
The program includes the ceremonial greetings to the special guests, among them President Alan Garcia, the heads of state of the other six wonders of the world, regional president of Cusco and the Mayor of Machu Picchu.
In this celebration, to be attended by 250 journalists from different countries will participate also 250 entrepreneurs (100 of them from abroad and 100 related to the tourism sector).
SPECIAL SHOW
After the greetings come a spectacle of lights and sounds with high-tech visual effects with the background of the citadel and which is projected images related to the payment to the land and ancient musical instruments.
"We want to show that Peru's history but also modern and we have a product well-preserved, authentic and exotic," he said in a statement to TV Peru.
Canales said that the ceremony will be at the top of the fortress and will not involve major impact on the Inca structure.
SINGERS INVITED
He said inviting the Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez, but their participation is in doubt for the birth of their first child, scheduled for that date. If confirmed, will be accompanied by 70 musicians of the orchestra that promotes its founding.
He reiterated that the invitation to keep the singers Sting, Bono and Paul McCartney. "We are negotiating to sing, not full orchestra but with a guitar solo. Would be 30 minutes of music, "he added.
He commented further that ten grandchildren of Hiram Bingham were invited to attend that day. "They are very motivated because it is a historical fact by the memory of his grandfather, which has marked the history and want to participate actively," he said.

La celebración por el centenario del primer avistamiento que hizo el explorador Hiram Bingham a la ciudadela inca de Machu Picchu, en Cusco, será seguida por unos 500 millones de televidentes en el mundo, informó hoy Carlos Canales, presidente ejecutivo de la Cámara Nacional de Turismo (Canatur).
Explicó que la ceremonia, que se llevará a cabo el 7 de julio del 2011 en el santuario incaico y cuyo tiempo de duración no será mayor de una hora y media, será trasmitida vía satélite, por lo que no se descarta que llegue a muchas más personas.
GRANDES INVITADOS
Remarcó que el escritor peruano Mario Vargas Llosa, premio Nobel de Literatura 2010, será el encargado de abrir el espectáculo con una participación de aproximadamente cinco minutos.
El programa incluye los saludos protocolares a los invitados especiales, entre los que destacan el presidente Alan García, los jefes de Estado de las otras seis maravillas del mundo, el presidente regional de Cusco y el alcalde de Machu Picchu.
En esta celebración, a la que asistirán 250 periodistas de diferentes nacionalidades, participarán también 250 empresarios (100 de ellos del extranjero y 100 relacionados con el sector turismo).
ESPECTÁCULO ESPECIAL
Luego de los saludos vendrá un espectáculo de luces y sonidos con efectos visuales de alta tecnología con el fondo de la ciudadela y sobre la cual se proyectarán imágenes relacionadas al pago a la tierra y antiguos instrumentos musicales.
“Queremos mostrar que el Perú es historia, pero también modernidad y que tenemos un producto bien conservado, auténtico y exótico”, destacó en declaraciones a TV Perú.
Canales aclaró que la ceremonia será en la parte alta de la fortaleza y no implicará mayor impacto en la estructura incaica.
CANTANTES INVITADOS
Dijo también que se invitó al tenor peruano Juan Diego Flórez, pero su participación está en duda por el nacimiento de su primer hijo, programado por esa fecha. Si confirma, estará acompañado por 70 músicos de la orquesta que promueve con su fundación.
Reiteró que mantienen la invitación a los cantantes Sting, Bono y Paul McCartney. “Estamos negociando para que canten, no con toda su orquesta pero sí con un solo de guitarra. Serían 30 minutos de música”, agregó.
Comentó, además, que diez nietos de Hiram Bingham fueron invitados para asistir aquel día. “Ellos están muy motivados porque es un hecho histórico por el recuerdo de su abuelo, algo que ha marcado la historia y quieren participar activamente”, anotó.
